Non messy creative play

Magdalena

This is a hit in our house - non messy play with foam. Genius!

Cute and fun

DHardie

My girls had fun playing with this! The foam is less messy than playdoh or slime but just as fun to mold. My girls know their letters pretty well, but this was still a fun tool to help work on their letters more while playing. Super cute set and the foam doesn't dry out so you can get a lot of uses out of it.

Amazing

We received this complimentary from bzzagent and these last two weeks it's made our learning a bit more fun! They sent us this awesome PlayFoam Shape & Lean Letter Sounds at first I was freaking out because I thought it'd be like slime which I will openly admit I hate slime because I'm such a clean freak the last thing I needed was to clean up slime off my couches but once my son & I opened this up & realized it was nothing like that it was actually these really cool colored little squishy foam beads that you get to shape in anyway other than the letters it comes with So far I've been loving this if ya have kiddos & ipads I'm sure you know what I'm talking about so this has definitely been a fun way to learn & increase motor skills as he's growing up without using the ipad & just having endless possibilities of fun learning!

Learning fun

sarahr92

This letter sound set is such a fun educational toy that helps kid work on identifying and shaping their letters while still making it playful . The playfoam is easy to shape and easy to pull out of the container. My 5 year old was able to easily mold the letters for the cards. I would say my only area my son wasn't a fan of is the cards are double sided so he can't see all the letters at once. This is the perfect we are stuck in the house today so let's making learning fun activity .

Tight is Right!

My boys love the 'Playfoam Shape & Learn Letter Sounds Set.' There were so many" "OHHHH" moments during the unboxing. My oldest loves the variety of colors that came with the kit. He definitely wishes he had more. I'm not sure how long this will last, but it works really well as a sensory aspect of learning. It allowed my son an additional outlet while we were focusing on a reading exercise. Instead of fidgeting, he was able to mode letters and objects we talked about in our stories. The only thing we use that is similar to this is playdoh, and this was less telling. No strong smell, no residue! YAY! My son wants more so that he can mix the colors and make a swirl pattern. It looks we've found a new school fav. My niece can't stop talking about the shapes we made.

Multipurpose item

I used this product with my 3 year old daughter. It was fun and she really liked it. It's a better replacement to play doh or other shaping, craft items. It does not dry out and it's easier to clean up. It takes a lot of the Styrofoam balls to create and shape the letters. Also, a lot of patience with young children. My daughter preferred to play with the foam alone and was easily distracted from letter shaping. All in all its a fun, educational toy that let's children explore and play with alphabets.

Unique and great sensory activity

I'm a parent of a preschooler and toddler, and I very much enjoy trying different activities that are both stimulating and educational. I was excited about the Playfoam Shape and Learn Letter Sounds activity, especially since it's a new concept that combines a preferred sensory activity with letters, but it didn't go quite how I thought. My daughter (preschooler) needed help shaping the foam to match the letters, and after about 5 letters she was done and wanting to do a different activity. My son (2.5 years old) was interested, but was mostly into squishing the foam. I'm all for kids of different developmental levels being able to experience their activity in their way, so I was ok with my son just playing with the foam. He was still getting some learning with the colors of the foam and us pointing at letters. He did, however, need direct supervision or he started squishing the colors together. Which brings me to my biggest con... As soon as the different colors even touch each other at all, the foam beads mix and it's very time consuming/difficult to separate the colors completely. That means at the end of one sitting, all the colors have at least a few beads of different colors. If you're the kind of parent that can't stand mixing play doh colors, this will drive you nuts. My daughter was careful to keep colors separate, but even at clean up you have to squish all the foam into the tiny plastic squares it comes in and my daughter tried cleaning up herself and the colors all touched in the original packaging. Packaging: the plastic holder it comes in is flimsy and not practical for ongoing storage, especially bc the box it comes with is bulky and not practical for ongoing play. If they had a harder container that easily separates the foam for storage and holds all the cards, that would be great. However, I know that would also drive up the price, and I don't think it's worth paying full price for this. This would be a very good activity for kindergarten age kids, in my honest opinion, and especially if you know they enjoy foam/play doh/slime/etc. Or if you don't mind mixing all the colors and making rainbow foam they can just use for the letters and store it all together in a box/bag. That's actually prob what I'll end up doing to avoid being bothered by a few mixed colors every time.

Fantastic & Fun Learning Toy

KylieR

The Learning Resources Playfoam Shape & Learn Letter Sounds Set is the perfect learning tool disguised as creative play for my 4 year old. She is super smart creatively but gets frustrated with learning her letters traditionally, so this bright, fun and colorful playfoam set is perfect for her. She loves that she is playing with "slime" (but so much cleaner and less sticky) and had fun sounding out the letters on the beautifully illustrated letter cards. She truly enjoyed rolling out the foam letters and was proud of herself after each letter she created. I would absolutely recommend this to any parent looking for a creative play, frustration-free learning tool.

My son loves it

Plungy88

My son loves this toy! He played with it for hours. We sat on the floor spelling out letters and had a blast. It reminds me of a toy from back in the day and it brought back memories. It wasn't messy at all because the foam sticks to itself and that's it. As long as you have something flat to do it on it won't be a mess. I definitely recommend! Makes learning fun!

My boy loves it!

Piggybooboo

My son has a speech issue and because of this he has a harder time learning how to write his letters. He really enjoyed the foam and using the card to 'trace' the letters. He had a fun time. However, some of the letters are slightly misshapen to show the animal they are trying to portray. (E for elephant has an elephant head). So while my son was tracing it he added the head in. He didn't fully understand the head was not part of the letter. That is my only con otherwise it is a great educational toy!

Way better than playdough!!

Carol

Our two and four year old both love this product. The cards give them some direction of what to do with the foam. I have had poor experiences with playdough and kinetic sand. This play foam is something I would recommend time and again. It's like getting to play with rice Krispy treats without the stickiness!

Makes learning letters fun!

Hey There Melissa

We got this play foam shape and learn kit for my 4 year old daughter. We do preschool at home so we are always looking for ways to make learning fun and this was perfect for us! It is such a great product, everything just as described on the packaging. I really like that the cards are colorful, bright and large - it makes it easy for my little one to manipulate the play foam to the shape of the letters. Also, the quality of the cards is so good!! They are nice and sturdy .. they really hold the play foam really well! These are made to last! Oh and one other plus.. I REALLY appreciate that the play foam comes in a little separator thing because it makes it so easy to store when we are done playing with it!
