Safety 1st gate handle is hard to open and loud
I just bought a used Safety 1st brand. But the handle seems hard to open and is made out of plastic so it’s loud and not smooth at all. We really like this Regalo one for the top of our stairs. For stairs I’d 100% do wall mounted; they are significantly safer. Pressure mount can be easily bumped out of place and they had a bar at the bottom that’s easy to trip over.

Top of stairs gate recommendation discussion
For stairs I’d 100% do wall mounted; they are significantly safer. Pressure mount can be easily bumped out of place and they had a bar at the bottom that’s easy to trip over. We have the kidco wall mounted. For what it’s worth, if you’re worried about damage we had much more with pressure gates than wall mounted. Pressure gates have these large round things to hold it and it destroyed our walls with 2in diameter big areas.
