Just got off the phone with Frabill customer service. I just purchased a Frabill minnow bucket from Wal Mart recently. When I used it for the first time today for some reason it rolled over to the side leaving half the door under water. The nice girl explained that it was not under warranty and I would need to return it to Wal Mart without a receipt. I told her that it wasn't that big of a deal and would throw it away never to buy one of their products again. Thought your company would like to know whether you care or not.

I like the change's I just wish it would fit in a 5 gallon bucket or my livewell.

Several reviewers mention the bucket rolling—does the 6‑quart Flow‑Troll tend to roll or tip when floated or when set on a boat deck?
This Flow‑Troll’s hydrodynamic shape is intended to allow continuous water exchange when floated or submerged, which helps stabilize the bucket, but one reviewer did report the 6‑quart model rolling onto its side and leaving the door partially submerged. Tipping can happen in rough water or on uneven surfaces, so we recommend floating it in calm water, avoiding overfilling, and securing it on a flat boat deck or in a recessed holder to reduce rolling.

Will this 6‑quart Flow‑Troll fit inside a standard 5‑gallon bucket or a typical boat livewell?
We recommend measuring before assuming a fit. This 6‑quart Flow‑Troll has listed external dimensions of about 11.8" x 9.5" x 7.3" (retail listings also show ~12" tall with a ~9 3/8" bottom width), so it will be a very tight fit — and in many cases won’t fully nest — inside a standard 5‑gallon bucket whose top diameter is typically about 11.7–11.9". [1][2][3] For boat livewells, sizes vary widely, so compare your livewell’s internal opening to the Flow‑Troll’s largest dimension (~11.8–12") to confirm fit. [1][2]

What are the external and internal dimensions (diameter and height) and the exact size of the self‑closing bait door opening?
This Flow‑Troll 6‑quart’s external footprint is listed by multiple retailers at roughly 11.8" (front‑to‑back) × 7.3" (side‑to‑side) × about 9.5–12" tall (sources vary by listing). The manufacturer does not publish an exact internal diameter or the precise bait‑door opening size on its product/spec pages, and we couldn’t find a verifiable door‑opening measurement online (some retailer pages and reviews only note the self‑closing/lockable door and report that water can slosh out if overfilled).

What plastic resin is the bucket made from (e.g., HDPE, polypropylene) and is the material UV‑stabilized or reinforced for long‑term outdoor use?
We list the Flow‑Troll as “durable plastic,” but Frabill’s official product page and major retailer specs show only “plastic” and do not name a specific resin (HDPE, polypropylene, etc.) or state whether the material is UV‑stabilized or reinforced. Utility buckets like this are most commonly made from HDPE or polypropylene and are often formulated with UV stabilizers for outdoor use, but we cannot confirm the exact resin or UV treatment for this specific Flow‑Troll without official technical data. Does the product include a full lid or cover in addition to the self‑closing bait door, and if so does the lid create a splash/water‑tight seal for transport?
Yes — this Flow‑Troll 6‑quart includes a full self‑closing lid with a locking bait door. The lid/door are meant to prevent escapes while allowing water flow for aeration and are not described as creating a splash‑ or water‑tight seal for rough transport, so you shouldn’t rely on it to be leakproof in heavy waves or if tumbled.

Is the Flow‑Troll designed to float upright when filled, and how much bait/water weight can it safely carry before becoming unstable?
Yes — this Flow‑Troll is shaped to float with the bait door facing upward so water continuously flows through for natural aeration. Frabill’s product description and multiple retailer listings describe that upright flotation, but Frabill does not publish a specific buoyancy or “safe-load” weight for tipping. For reference, a 6‑quart bucket is about 1.5 gallons (≈12.5 lb) of water, so a filled bucket plus bait will weigh roughly that amount; overfilling, adding heavy items, or aggressive dragging can cause it to roll or tip, so keep it below the rim and avoid extra hanging loads. Can the self‑closing bait door be locked or otherwise secured (for example during transport) to prevent bait escaping if the bucket tips?
Yes — this Flow‑Troll 6‑quart has a self‑closing bait door with a locking feature so you can secure the door for transport. The bucket’s hydrodynamic/weighted shape also helps keep the door facing up while floating or being pulled, but if the bucket is fully inverted or rolls over there is still a chance bait could escape. Are there any drain plugs, hose fittings, or attachment points for an aerator/pump hose, or is the design intended to be used without additional aeration?
We do not include drain plugs, hose fittings, or built‑in aerator attachment points — this Flow‑Troll is designed to use its hydrodynamic flow shape for continuous, natural aeration so an external aerator is generally not required. The product relies on water exchange through the flow design and the self‑closing bait door rather than hoses or fittings. [1]

How sturdy is the carrying handle and bail when the bucket is full (comfortable to carry and resistant to bending or breaking)?
We build the Frabill Flow‑Troll with a sturdy molded carrying handle and durable construction designed to comfortably carry a full 6‑quart load during normal fishing use. The handle and bail resist routine bending or breaking, though—as with any plastic handle—you should avoid excessive side‑loading or dropping; customer feedback is limited (2 reviews, 3.5★) and does not report handle failure.
