Yes, this will fit 3 across, which wasn't the main reason we bought this as we only have 1 child.   We bought this because we have a small car and didn't want the back seat to be taken over by 1 car seat.   It is also very light, easily removeable and to install with the click in latch system.  The meshed materials also keeps the child cool and happy in long car ride.  We have taken this car seat in 3 international trips (Croatia, Mexico, Italy) and our child who is now 3 has no complaint.   It is easily removable to wash.
